I slice its throat with my free hand with full force

The doppleganger changes back into its true form just as you slice its throat, the doppleganger turns out to be nothing more then a mere shadow, but dies as it did not change back into a shadow soon enough, it disappears and you drop for the ground, I manage to catch you as the doppleganger disappears
